Take Falling Skies. Take out the Aliens, replace them with zombies.

When the zombie infection hit Boston, the Mason clan got split up and Hal's been trying to find his family ever since. He keeps looking for clues from his father - the biggest history geek in the world - to try and find where they are. He's also keeping his eyes open for his brothers and just praying to God that they were with his parents.

He's eighteen at this point, having been on his own for about two years. He was hooked up with a small military group at one point where he got the crash course of being a soldier and using a gun, but then the group got infected and Hal busted out of there before he got nommed on.

All he's got is his dirt bike that will probably one day run out of fuel and not be able to find a gas station to refill it out, and a small military AK and pistol that should keep him alive. Food and clothing he can scavenge for, but ammo is in low numbers and dwindling.
